As I was out prepping our garden yesterday for our spring planting (hooray spring is finally coming our way!!) I was dreaming about all the delicious produce we will harvest from this small plot of land. Juicy tomatoes, sweet cucumbers, green beans, peas, broccoli, onions, apples....mmmm...my mouth is watering just thinking about it all!
My day dreaming was interrupted when I came inside and checked my email only to be reminded of how great the struggle is for food for our friends in Kenya. They are in great drought. Their soil is hardened, cracking dirt void of any water. Produce does not grow there. Because of this, food prices are sky-rocketing and more and more people are going hungry. The cows and other livestock are dying.
The schools we partner with are losing teachers due to these rising prices because they cannot pay them enough to compensate.
This causes such heart ache in my chest. I simply want to box up all my fresh produce that will come from our little garden and ship it to them so they can taste its goodness. Instead, I turn to my heavenly Father, crying out on behalf of the orphans and widows around the world who are starving, begging Him to send rain, as only He can.
God has called us to be ambassadors on their behalf. We are to tell people about them, to make their needs known, and to empower people to give as God calls us to.
Justin and I are ready to work, to beat the ground raising up supporters and champions for these beautiful people. We are half-way to being fully funded, which would enable us to do this. Each day God brings in another person who wants to partner with us financially. He is meeting our needs so we in turn can meet theirs. It is a beautiful journey we are on!
